JS Pinney discovered writing and a love of written language at age 11 in Mr. Axtell’s fifth grade class.  After devouring 65 Nancy Drew books...usually when she was supposed to be doing school work…she graduated to  CS Lewis and Tolkien, developing lots of magical ideas in her head. A seed was planted when she won the school writing award. She remained a voracious reader, biking to the library on hot summer days, consuming large swaths of books, mostly mysteries, while lying on a towel at her town pool. 

Determined to live life a little and write more later, she attended Georgetown University majoring in Nursing and minoring in English.  She went on to earn her master’s in Nursing and became a pediatric nurse practitioner.  In the midst of building her career, she married her college sweetheart--one of her best decisions. Armed with experience as a pediatric nurse in DC, Boston and New Jersey, she landed the position of full-time mom of three and a part-time nurse.  When her children began leaving for college, she chose to do a brave thing and attended a lunch-hour writing class. One brave thing led to another…and she joined a writing critique group, wrote some flash fiction, and ten years later finished her first novel.  Turns out her stories just needed time to germinate.
